The apparatus consists of a cast aluminum base with an iron stand on which moves aluminum arm. A 15cm dial is fixed on this arm and a brass rod slides through the lower portion of the arm. The machine consists of a hollow cylinder mounted horizontally on a study frame on ball bearings. There is an opening which can be closed with a dust tight cover to facilitate charging and discharging the drum with the material under test.
